Snead Yacht Consulting, Inc. was founded by Benjamin T. Snead in 2003 and is located in the historic port city of New Bern, NC.  Ben has worked in the yacht industry his entire professional career, with 19 years of experience in yacht planning, specification, management, marketing and sales.

Ben spent his high school and college summers and two winter seasons working on offshore charter and commercial fishing boats at Oregon Inlet, NC.  He graduated with a business degree from the University of South Carolina in 1985. Upon graduation Ben joined Hatteras Yachts in New Bern, NC, where he worked with customers and dealers in the specification, construction management and delivery of yachts ranging in length from 36' to 130'.  During his 13 years at Hatteras he held various management and executive positions, including Executive Director of Custom Yachts and Vice President of Product Planning.  More recently, Ben has consulted on the construction and marketing of some of the finest luxury yachts in the world, including the 185', U.S. built, SAMANTHA LIN, the 206', Danish built, BIG ROI, and the 153' GENESIS, built in Italy.  Ben is also the Managing Partner of Expedition Yachts International, a firm that designs large steel hull expedition vessels for clients worldwide.  This unique background gives him unmatched knowledge of the industry and an understanding of how fine yachts and boats should be built and marketed.

Charles E. Lewis joined SYC in 2003 and brings with him over 15 years of consultative sales experience in the commercial real estate and financial services industries.  He has consummated transactions on over a half a million square feet of commercial and industrial real estate in Southern California and has put together complex financial plans for small and medium sized businesses, including estate , business succession, employee benefit and executive compensation plans.  His background in helping individuals and companies identify and satisfy needs, coupled with his life long love of boating and the water adds great value to the level of services our clients experience.

Charley spent the summers of his youth exploring the coast and backwaters of Eastern NC.  While in college, Charley was introduced to sail boat racing and continued that passion after school living in California.  He has competed in several Blue water regattas on the west coast as well as several one design fleets and big boat course regattas including San Francisco's "Big Boat Series" and the "California Cup", in Marina Del Rey. Charley is also an avid light tackle fisherman, board sailor and surfer.  In 2003 he relocated his family to New Bern to pursue a career in the yachting industry and make his passion his business
